Position Description:
Join a growing organization in Madison, AL as an Accounting Department Manager, where you'll oversee critical financial operations, lead a dynamic team, and drive process improvements to support strategic growth. In this hybrid of leadership and hands-on accounting, you'll manage accounts payable and receivable, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and collaborate across departments to optimize cash flow and financial accuracy. Your influence will be vital in maintaining robust financial records, resolving discrepancies, and guiding internal controls. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing financial statements and reports.
- Oversee all general accounting functions including AP, AR, and tax compliance.
- Develop and refine internal accounting processes in collaboration with departmental managers.
- Ensure accurate coding, invoice processing, and 3-way matching procedures.
- Resolve vendor and internal discrepancies, investigate irregularities, and authorize payments.
- Manage banking relationships, monitor transactions, and ensure adherence to internal controls.
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations; support audit activities and tax filings.
- Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to review contracts, billing, and order processes.
- Maintain financial integrity, transparency, and compliance across all operations.
Top Requirements:
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA or Master’s degree preferred
- Proficiency in ERP systems, especially SAP (Fiori preferred), and advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement improvements
