JOB DESCRIPTION:
Staff Accountant
I. Position Purpose
Reporting to the Controller, this position provides accounting and coordination support.
II. Position Responsibilities and Duties
Performing duties as directed by others to ensure the following duties are managed accurately and timely:
Accounts Payable Coordination & Management
• Responsible for collection and tracking of account payables (dispute resolution, statement reconciliation, purchase order matching, distribution, approval)
• Ensure entry of vendor bills into electronic portal provided by off-site accounting services organization
• Prepare and recommend weekly AP
Accounts Receivable Management
• Daily sales invoicing for all products (prime product and by-product), including sending invoices to customers and resolving disputes
• Prepare daily Shipping Logs
• Prepare credits, debits, and returns
Accounting Support
• Post daily cash deposits and apply to customer account
• Daily filing requirements
• Daily bank and cash position reconciliation
Administrative Support
• Caller Assistance
• Excellent Internal/External Customer Service
• Perform executive and administrative support tasks
• Back-up phone operator
Quality, Safety and Sanitation
• Follow all Personnel Safety policies/procedures, including the use of proper PPE, as well as ensure the safe use of required tools and equipment
• Follow all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, GMP's, Sanitation and general plant policies/procedures
• Inspect products for overall appearance according to customer and QA/Food Safety requirements and communicate with supervisor when non-conforming products are present
• Communicate all safety or environmental issues to supervisors/managers
• At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties
• Complete necessary paperwork for documenting process parameters and recordkeeping requirements
Open Communication to be a team-player and do other tasks as necessary.
III. Essential Skills
This position requires an individual with the ability to prioritize and multitask while experiencing interruptions. A thorough understanding of the accounts receivable process with a high degree of accuracy is a must. In addition, excellent oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively work within a team are required.
Education Level:
BS in Accounting or Finance is preferred
Related Experience:
Minimum of 1 year in an accounting role required
IV. Physical and Mental Requirements
This position is in an office environment, but requires physical and mental alertness, attentiveness, and stamina for the length of an entire 8 hour work shift each day. Occasional light lifting, frequent changing from a seated to standing position and occasional stair climbing are all physical demands of this position. The position will require some activity outside of an office environment as needed.
