DESCRIPTION:
The Director, Intercollegiate Athletics provides leadership and direction of the intercollegiate athletics programs. Develops and expands recreation and wellness programs to meet the needs of the college and community. Ensures compliance with Florida State College Activities Association (FSCAA) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and regulations. Oversees the Raider Center, recreational sports, athletic field operations, college and community events, and related facility use contracts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Strategic leadership and operational oversight for college-wide athletic, recreational sports, and wellness programs and facilities, including the Raider Center.
2. Supervises athletic and recreational team staff to ensure the achievement of departmental objectives, including setting work priorities, scheduling, training, professional development, modeling, coaching, mentoring, goal setting, and performance evaluation.
3. Manages contracts with outside entities for facility usage to provide mutually beneficial partnerships that maintain and grow the College’s athletics and recreational programs.
4. Oversees and solicits external funding for intercollegiate sports in collaboration with the Foundation through an athletic booster club, advertising, stadium signage, donations, and grants.
5. Leads budget management, fundraising, marketing, promotion, and public relations.
6. Ensures college-wide compliance with FSCAA, NJCAA, and college policies, procedures, and best practices.
7. Ensures compliance with gender equality regulations in athletics by staying informed on legal requirements, advising university staff, and coordinating the certification of academic and health eligibility for varsity athletes.
8. Leads development of a business model to generate revenue using college facilities, athletic fields, and summer camps.
9. Develops and maintains external community relationships as the college’s ambassador for intercollegiate athletics.
10. Prepares press releases and arranges media coverage for athletic events and results.
11. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in sports management, physical education, health and wellness, business, educational leadership, or related field.
2. Four years of professional experience in an administrative, leadership, or head coaching role at a high school or higher education athletic department.
3. Two years of supervisory experience.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution in business administration, finance, sports management, educational leadership, or related field.
2. Two years of professional experience managing complex budgets that include multiple funding sources.
3. Experience in fundraising.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Works both in an office environment and outside at athletic field.
2. May be required to work evenings and weekends.

4. Requires travel throughout the state for meetings, athletics, and special events.

Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College must reside in the State of Florida at the time of hire and may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more. The Office of Human Resources will determine which background checks shall be conducted for each position, based upon its review of job descriptions and the responsibilities of the position. These include, but are not limited to, positions that have access to money, master keys, security-sensitive areas and confidential information; positions that have the capability to create, delete, and alter records; and positions that are responsible for the care and instruction of children.
