Description
Skilled technical work in the operation of wastewater treatment facilities, including maintaining compliance and performing office duties. Performs daily operations at the wastewater facilities, including collecting samples, performing lab work, conducting field adjustments, performing mechanical repairs, working with chemicals, and ensuring electronic monitoring of the facility.
**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.
**Additional compensation based on licensure.
Essential Functions

Performs technical work in the operation of wastewater treatment facilities, daily operation techniques, and required laboratory analyses for Wastewater/Reclaim Augmentation and Distribution Treatment Facilities.
Adjusts process controls where necessary to maintain optimum treatment capabilities.
Performs preventive maintenance checks and services on process monitoring equipment. Performs after-hours standby duties and responds to emergency situations as needed.
Maintains responsibility for adherence to proper safety standards and procedures and for maintaining all safety equipment and related records.
Operates and maintains sludge belt filter press.
Utilizes the SCADA System.
Assists in Plant Site CIP projects, reviewing and commenting on construction plans, operations, and construction projects.
Cleans clarifier weirs.
Receives purchased materials for maintenance and operational purposes. Assists in the inspection of reclaimed distribution system as required. Maintains inventory of assigned equipment and supplies.
Maintains responsibility for compliance sampling events, reviewing and recording of the lab data, and completing monthly operating reports.
Collects samples and identifies concentrations of chemicals, physical, or biological characteristics of wastewater required in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. Gathers and tests wastewater samples for plant efficiency as required.
Performs quality control tests on lab equipment and lab analyses, evaluates procedures and results for accuracy, and determines appropriate methods.
Maintains State-mandated professional qualifications by seeking out and completing approved C.E.U. courses.
Additional Duties
Performs other related work as required or as may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience required; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Must possess a valid FL Department of Environmental Protection Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License, Class "C", "B", or "A".
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Must be available to work any hours or days as may be assigned.
Must be able to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires the incumbent to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
Considerable knowledge of the principles of pump operations and maintenance, chlorination equipment operation and maintenance, and operation and calibration of laboratory and field analytical equipment.
Ability to use or repair small, medium, or heavy equipment or machinery. Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
Ability to utilize Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel programs for preparation of routine paperwork and records. Familiar with computer operations and data entry procedures as pertains to operational needs.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver License, Class "E"
All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.
Department Specific trainings per position may be required.
