Job Title: Cost Control Accountant

Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Pay Rate: $45 $47.45/hr (based on experience)

Duration: 16-month contract with potential for extension or conversion

Shift: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM

Role Overview

We are seeking a Cost Control Accountant to support a major plant turnaround project. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate cost tracking, budgeting, and financial reporting while partnering closely with both field teams and corporate finance.

• 5 years of cost control or financial experience
• Proficiency in Google Workspace tools

Education

• Bachelor s or Associate degree, or equivalent relevant experience
  
  

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Turnaround Planning

• Support budget development and cost estimation
• Establish work breakdown structures (WBS) and cost tracking systems
• Review vendor and contractor agreements, including rate structures and equipment costs
  
  

Execution Phase

• Track and validate daily costs (labor, equipment, materials)
• Monitor spend against budget and highlight variances
• Prepare regular accruals for finance teams
• Evaluate and manage cost impacts from change requests
  
  

Post-Turnaround Reporting

• Reconcile invoices and prepare final cost reports
• Perform variance analysis and provide insights
• Capture data to support future project planning and improvements
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs)
• Experience with SAP or Oracle systems
• Familiarity with Primavera P6
  
  

Industry Experience

• Background in industrial construction or maintenance
• Experience in petrochemical or refining environments is preferred
  
  

Soft Skills

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
