The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting both recurring and ad hoc financial analysis and reporting. This role provides consultative financial support to both finance and cross-functional teams. It is a hands-on position requiring close collaboration with stakeholders at all levels to gain a deep understanding of operations and drive business improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc financial reports and analyses.
- Develop monthly forecasts, including variance analysis against actual results.
- Apply and interpret complex financial and accounting principles related to planning and control.
- Create and deliver analytical reporting and financial insights on a regular and as-needed basis.
- Design and enhance reporting tools and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making across departments.
- Evaluate financial activities and provide recommendations related to policies, procedures, and controls.
- Analyze financial data to assess historical performance and forecast future trends.
- Build and maintain financial models to identify trends and recommend operational improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple departments and organizational levels, including external partners.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative financial analysis to support strategic planning initiatives.
- Prepare and present financial information to non-finance stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 years of corporate financial planning and analysis experience.
- Industry experience in a maritime or transportation-related environment is a plus.
- Proven ability to evaluate and improve financial processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to translate financial data into clear insights for non-finance audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Experience with enterprise financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., ERP systems); familiarity with CloudSuite, Fidelio, or Seaware is a plus.
- Proficiency in data visualization and analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Essbase is preferred.
- Strong quantitative skills with experience developing and refining financial models.
