What are the responsibilities and job description for the Center Room Host position at SEGERSTROM CENTER FOR THE ARTS?
Segerstrom Center for the Arts boasts two private donor rooms; the Center Room in Segerstrom Hall and the Donor Lounge in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Here, the Center entertains influential supporters such as the Board of Directors, major annual fund supporters, leadership level building fund philanthropists, Corporate Sponsors, and leading Artistic and Education Partners. The donor rooms are open for 1 hour prior to and at the intermission(s) of all Segerstrom Center and Resident Company main stage performances. The Host/Hostess primary responsibility is to welcome these very important Center guests, and ensure they have a pleasurable and comfortable visit to the donor rooms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned or changed at the discretion of supervisor.
- Prepare donor room to receive guests. This includes, retrieving updated information from administration and preparing binders prior to the event
- Ensure room is presentable and ready for donors, escalating any housekeeping or engineering issues
- Greet high level donors, corporate sponsors, and guests
- Provide information about the evening’s performance, features and services of the donor rooms, and alert guests when the show is about to begin
- Complete daily log sheets neatly and thoroughly with member names, guest counts, and member comments
- Check memberships against member lists
- Provide exemplary customer service, in keeping with the Center’s best practices, to any patrons and audience members requesting assistance
- Assist in answering general questions and guiding patrons to appropriate resources in a polite and friendly manner
- Tactfully diffuse any issues and problems presented in keeping with current policies
- Thoroughly document and escalate any challenges to appropriate management staff for later follow-up
- Collaborate with Segerstrom Center and Patina (food & bar service) staff to deliver a consistently excellent Center experience to every donor and patron, each time they visit.
