Counter Sales Representative – HVAC & Plumbing Supplies
Location: Meriden, CT
Compensation: $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience, plus commission
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Counter Sales Representative for a full-time, permanent position with a well-established HVAC and plumbing equipment supplier in Meriden, Connecticut.
This position is ideal for someone with HVAC, plumbing, wholesale distribution, counter sales, or inside sales experience. The successful candidate will help contractors and trade professionals identify and purchase the equipment, parts, and supplies needed for their projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist HVAC and plumbing contractors at the sales counter
- Identify and recommend equipment, replacement parts, tools, and supplies
- Answer customer questions regarding products, pricing, and availability
- Prepare quotes and process sales orders accurately
- Respond to customer inquiries in person, by telephone, and through email
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
- Follow up on quotes, open orders, and customer requests
- Recommend additional or alternative products based on customer needs
- Coordinate with warehouse, purchasing, delivery, and sales teams
- Resolve product, order, and delivery questions professionally
- Maintain accurate customer and order information
- Identify opportunities to increase sales and earn additional commission
Qualifications
- Previous HVAC, plumbing, counter sales, inside sales, wholesale distribution, or customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge of HVAC or plumbing equipment, parts, fittings, fixtures, and supplies is strongly preferred
- Experience working with contractors, technicians, or trade professionals is helpful
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to identify products and recommend appropriate solutions
- Comfortable preparing quotes and processing customer orders
- Basic computer and order-entry skills
- Organized, dependable, accurate, and able to multitask
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced sales environment
- Willingness to learn new products and technical information
