Counter Sales/Account Manager – Plumbing Equipment & Supplies
Location: Port Chester, NY
Compensation: $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience

One of our leading clients—one of the largest HVAC and plumbing wholesalers in New England—is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Counter Sales/Account Manager for its Port Chester, New York location.
This position combines plumbing counter sales, customer service, and account management. The successful candidate will assist contractors with their daily product needs while developing strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customer accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist plumbing contractors and trade professionals at the sales counter
- Identify and recommend plumbing equipment, parts, fittings, fixtures, tools, and supplies
- Manage and develop relationships with new and existing customer accounts
- Respond to customer requests in person, by telephone, and through email
- Prepare quotes, enter orders, and process transactions accurately
- Follow up on quotes, open orders, product availability, and customer inquiries
- Identify opportunities to expand accounts and increase sales
- Provide product information and recommend appropriate alternatives
- Coordinate with warehouse, purchasing, delivery, and outside sales teams
- Resolve order, delivery, and product-related questions professionally
- Maintain accurate customer, pricing, and order information
- Deliver responsive and dependable service throughout the sales process
Qualifications
- Previous plumbing counter sales, account management, inside sales, wholesale distribution, or customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge of plumbing equipment, parts, fittings, fixtures, and supplies strongly preferred
- Plumbing industry or hands-on trade experience will also be considered
- Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to identify products and recommend appropriate solutions
- Comfortable working with contractors, plumbers, technicians, purchasing personnel, and business owners
- Ability to prepare quotes and manage multiple customer requests
- Organized, dependable, and accurate
- Basic computer, order-entry, and inventory system skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced wholesale environment
