Commercial HVAC Project Manager
Location: Trenton, NJ
Pay: $45–$55 per hour, depending on experience
Position Type: Contract opportunity with the potential to become full-time and permanent
One of Central New Jersey’s largest commercial construction firms is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Project Manager to oversee HVAC projects throughout the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proven project manager who understands commercial HVAC construction, can coordinate multiple project stakeholders, and knows how to keep projects on schedule and within budget. The position will begin on a contract basis and could lead to a full-time, permanent opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Manage commercial HVAC projects from preconstruction through completion
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and work plans
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, estimates, and project requirements
- Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, general contractors, and customers
- Manage equipment and material procurement to support project schedules
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation
- Monitor labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Conduct project meetings and communicate schedules, priorities, and progress
- Identify potential delays, conflicts, and cost issues before they affect the project
- Ensure work complies with contract requirements, specifications, codes, and safety standards
- Coordinate system start-up, testing, commissioning, punch-list work, and project closeout
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and project stakeholders
- Provide regular project status and financial reports to company leadership
Qualifications
- Previous project-management experience within commercial HVAC, mechanical construction, or a related field
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, systems, installation practices, and project sequencing
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Working knowledge of submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement, and project closeout
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency with project-management, scheduling, estimating, and document-control software
- Strong attention to detail and financial accountability
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to visit project sites as needed
