Helps supervise and participates in the work of a maintenance crew engaged in a wide variety of construction, maintenance and repair projects involving County infrastructure. Participates in snow and ice removal operations.
Train and work with Equipment Operators and other subordinate workers
Operate all assigned equipment with a high degree of proficiency
Train equipment operators on assigned equipment
Provide opportunities for operators to develop skills on assigned equipment
Operate equipment when necessary for road construction, repair, and maintenance.
Perform preventative maintenance and make minor repairs to equipment
Perform manual work associated with equipment operations
Assist the Area Foreman in planning, scheduling, and assigning work to crew
Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a small crew
Plan and supervise the setup of construction work zones
Assist the Area Supervisor in evaluating job performance
Act as on-call for after hours & weekends for emergency callouts or designates a crew member
Wear PPE and enforces local, state, and federal safety regulations
Participate in snow and ice removal operations
Function as a shift supervisor for snow and ice removal operations
Operate a motor grader for snow and ice removal when necessary
Ensure all equipment is in good working condition
Ensure all equipment is cleaned, fueled, and loaded for follow on shift
Communicate problems/concerns immediately to next shift supervisor
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Three years Public Works or road construction experience. Valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License Class A with tanker endorsement.
