Commercial Electrician – Job Description
A Commercial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial buildings such as offices, schools, hospitals, retail stores, and industrial facilities. This role ensures electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local and national electrical codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial buildings
- Run and bend conduit (EMT, rigid, and PVC)
- Pull and terminate electrical wiring, cables, and fixtures
- Install panels, breakers, transformers, lighting systems, and control systems
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs
- Ensure all work complies with NEC and local electrical codes
- Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functionality
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other trades on job sites
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow OSHA safety standards
