This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical, electrical, and technical skills in a fast-paced setting while contributing to the overall success of our operations.

Duties

Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all facility systems including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, lighting, dock equipment, and mechanical systems
  • Follow and maintain the preventive maintenance calendar, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and documented accurately
  • Inspect and test equipment, systems, and infrastructure at regular intervals to identify wear, potential failure, or performance degradation before issues arise
  • Lubricate, calibrate, clean, and adjust equipment per manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules
  • Track equipment service history, warranty status, and recommended maintenance intervals in the facilities log

Corrective Maintenance & Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly to all facility service requests, maintenance work orders, and emergency calls — prioritizing urgent issues such as refrigeration failures, power outages, roof leaks, dock malfunctions, or HVAC breakdowns
  • Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement effective, lasting repairs
  • Serve as the first responder for all immediate facility emergencies during operating hours, minimizing downtime and protecting product, staff, and building integrity
  • Escalate complex repairs requiring licensed contractors or specialized expertise, coordinate on-site vendor access, and oversee work to completion
  • Communicate repair status, timelines, and resolutions clearly to the Facilities Manager and Site Manager

Building Systems & Infrastructure

  • Monitor and maintain HVAC systems to ensure proper temperature and air quality across warehouse, cold storage, and office areas
  • Maintain refrigeration and cold storage systems, ensuring consistent temperature compliance for food safety requirements
  • Oversee plumbing systems including restrooms, utility sinks, drains, and water heaters — identifying and resolving leaks, blockages, or pressure issues
  • Maintain electrical systems including lighting, outlets, panels, and emergency systems — escalating licensed electrical work as required
  • Ensure dock levelers, dock seals, overhead doors, and loading equipment are operational and maintained to support safe and efficient inbound/outbound operations
  • Monitor building envelope including roofing, exterior doors, windows, and structural elements for damage or maintenance needs

Facility Cleanliness, Sanitation & Grounds

  • Support and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the facility including warehouse floors, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas
  • Coordinate or assist with pest control vendor activities and follow up on findings to ensure compliance
  • Maintain exterior grounds, parking areas, and building perimeter as needed
  • Ensure waste disposal, recycling, and sanitation systems are functioning properly and scheduled appropriately
  • Uphold food safety sanitation standards in all areas adjacent to product storage or handling

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed in compliance with OSHA regulations, local building codes, fire codes, and organizational safety standards
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of the facility identifying hazards, unsafe conditions, or code violations and reporting findings immediately
  • Maintain fire suppression systems, emergency lighting, exit signage, and first aid station readiness
  • Participate in all required safety training, inspections, and compliance audits
  • Report all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to the Facilities Manager without delay
  • Ensure all hazardous materials (chemicals, lubricants, refrigerants) are stored, handled, and disposed of per regulatory requirements

Facilities Projects & Vendor Coordination

  • Assist with facility improvement projects including repairs, minor renovations, equipment installations, and space reconfigurations
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance, inspections, and capital projects
  • Obtain quotes, schedule access, supervise work quality, and confirm project completion before sign-off
  • Support capital planning conversations by providing maintenance history data and equipment condition assessments to the Facilities Manager

Documentation & Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs, work order records, inspection reports, and service documentation
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and tools — tracking stock levels and submitting replenishment requests proactively
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored, maintained, and accounted for
  • Submit completed work orders, compliance documentation, and exception reports on time and in full

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade certification or vocational training strongly preferred
  • 3–5 years of facilities maintenance, building operations, or trades experience
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
  • Experience in a warehouse, distribution, or food production environment a strong plus
