Duties
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all facility systems including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, lighting, dock equipment, and mechanical systems
- Follow and maintain the preventive maintenance calendar, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and documented accurately
- Inspect and test equipment, systems, and infrastructure at regular intervals to identify wear, potential failure, or performance degradation before issues arise
- Lubricate, calibrate, clean, and adjust equipment per manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules
- Track equipment service history, warranty status, and recommended maintenance intervals in the facilities log
Corrective Maintenance & Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to all facility service requests, maintenance work orders, and emergency calls — prioritizing urgent issues such as refrigeration failures, power outages, roof leaks, dock malfunctions, or HVAC breakdowns
- Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement effective, lasting repairs
- Serve as the first responder for all immediate facility emergencies during operating hours, minimizing downtime and protecting product, staff, and building integrity
- Escalate complex repairs requiring licensed contractors or specialized expertise, coordinate on-site vendor access, and oversee work to completion
- Communicate repair status, timelines, and resolutions clearly to the Facilities Manager and Site Manager
Building Systems & Infrastructure
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems to ensure proper temperature and air quality across warehouse, cold storage, and office areas
- Maintain refrigeration and cold storage systems, ensuring consistent temperature compliance for food safety requirements
- Oversee plumbing systems including restrooms, utility sinks, drains, and water heaters — identifying and resolving leaks, blockages, or pressure issues
- Maintain electrical systems including lighting, outlets, panels, and emergency systems — escalating licensed electrical work as required
- Ensure dock levelers, dock seals, overhead doors, and loading equipment are operational and maintained to support safe and efficient inbound/outbound operations
- Monitor building envelope including roofing, exterior doors, windows, and structural elements for damage or maintenance needs
Facility Cleanliness, Sanitation & Grounds
- Support and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the facility including warehouse floors, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas
- Coordinate or assist with pest control vendor activities and follow up on findings to ensure compliance
- Maintain exterior grounds, parking areas, and building perimeter as needed
- Ensure waste disposal, recycling, and sanitation systems are functioning properly and scheduled appropriately
- Uphold food safety sanitation standards in all areas adjacent to product storage or handling
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance work is performed in compliance with OSHA regulations, local building codes, fire codes, and organizational safety standards
- Conduct routine safety inspections of the facility identifying hazards, unsafe conditions, or code violations and reporting findings immediately
- Maintain fire suppression systems, emergency lighting, exit signage, and first aid station readiness
- Participate in all required safety training, inspections, and compliance audits
- Report all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions to the Facilities Manager without delay
- Ensure all hazardous materials (chemicals, lubricants, refrigerants) are stored, handled, and disposed of per regulatory requirements
Facilities Projects & Vendor Coordination
- Assist with facility improvement projects including repairs, minor renovations, equipment installations, and space reconfigurations
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance, inspections, and capital projects
- Obtain quotes, schedule access, supervise work quality, and confirm project completion before sign-off
- Support capital planning conversations by providing maintenance history data and equipment condition assessments to the Facilities Manager
Documentation & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs, work order records, inspection reports, and service documentation
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and tools — tracking stock levels and submitting replenishment requests proactively
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored, maintained, and accounted for
- Submit completed work orders, compliance documentation, and exception reports on time and in full
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade certification or vocational training strongly preferred
- 3–5 years of facilities maintenance, building operations, or trades experience
- Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
- Experience in a warehouse, distribution, or food production environment a strong plus
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, building codes, and food safety compliance standards
- EPA 608 refrigerant certification preferred
- Ability to use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work order platforms
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across multiple building trades
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift
- Reliable, self-directed, and able to prioritize and manage workload with minimal supervision
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
