Staff Accountant, Revenue
Atlanta, GA 30305 (Buckhead) | Hybrid – 2 Days/Week On-Site | Full-Time
Our client is a well-established professional services firm operating in the business advisory and operational consulting space. The firm is looking for a Staff Accountant, Revenue to join its Atlanta office. This role sits within the revenue accounting function and is primarily responsible for the setup, maintenance, and lifecycle management of customer contracts within the company's contract and revenue management system. It's a great fit for someone who wants a role that's more operational and contract-focused than a traditional general ledger staff position, while still staying close to the day-to-day mechanics of accounting.
What You'll Do
- Build collaborative working relationships with internal client-facing teams, helping ensure established contract and billing processes are followed consistently.
- Review contract terms and conditions to assess potential business or financial risk before setup.
- Configure new customer contracts in the firm's revenue/contract management system based on negotiated terms, ensuring all cost elements are captured accurately.
- Partner with project and delivery teams to confirm contracts are structured correctly to support proper revenue recognition and billing.
- Support post-contract activity, including change orders, amendments, modifications, and contract close-out.
- Ensure internal policies and controls are applied consistently across the full contract lifecycle.
- Assist with monthly revenue close processes, including preparation of revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting reports.
- Review revenue transactions for accuracy and proper reporting treatment.
- Analyze variable consideration — such as discounts, rebates, and penalties — and evaluate the impact on revenue recognition.
- Support year-end audit requests as needed.
- Take on additional responsibilities and ad hoc projects as assigned.

- Strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and the ability to pick up new systems and processes quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex contract or accounting scenarios clearly.
- Solid understanding of contract setup and administration.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and see responsibilities through to completion.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.).
