This position offers 1 day work from home and reports to the corporate accounting team in the Perimeter area.
The Senior Property Accountant will serve as a key financial partner to Property Management, overseeing all aspects of general ledger activity and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role ensures timely, accurate monthly closings and supports leadership with financial insights that drive operational performance.
- Perform all general ledger and month-end closing duties for assigned properties using MRI or comparable property management software.
- Prepare and review journal entries, including straight-line rent, accruals, depreciation, prepaid expenses, and other key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Maintain detailed supporting schedules, reconciliations, and closing checklists for each property.
- Review and validate accounts payable, cash receipts, and fixed asset activity to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Partner closely with Property Managers to analyze variances, review budgets and forecasts, and assist with annual operating expense recoveries.
- Provide audit support and respond to internal and external requests with professionalism and accuracy.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with MRI and Nexus a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while meeting deadlines
- High attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach
