Seaman Corporation is seeking a Director of Product Management to join our commercial leadership team! This position will report to the Vice President, Commercial.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Product Management is a key member of the commercial leadership team, and in that capacity will play a pivotal role in defining and executing long-term product and service strategies. The best candidate will lead a team responsible for executing the business’s vision for new product innovation, product lifecycle management and technology optimization – ultimately delivering sustainable, profitable growth through shaping the overall product and service portfolio. A thought leader in the business, this role is responsible for developing and maintaining a 5-year product roadmap, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure product success and market competitiveness, evolving both internal and external processes and systems and contributing to long term incremental strategic advancements. The Director will work hand in hand with marketing, sales, field technical services, engineering, operations and other functions to correlate strategic direction into tactical and executional KPIs that drive ROI and deliver on desired business outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Lead 5-year product roadmaps rooted in market strategy and aligned with business goals
- Guide the product management organization through the PLM process, defining concise business cases and collaborating with engineering, operations, marketing and sales on new product development and go to market strategy
- Ensure disciplined execution of new product and service development programs, balancing speed to market, quality, cost and performance against overall business objectives
- Manage the overall portfolio to meet market needs and drive long term, profitable growth
- Develop a metric driven approach to portfolio analysis, using data to drive long term decisions
- Hold accountability for financial performance of the full suite of products/services – manage pricing strategy, deliver revenue and margin target attainment, develop market share growth models, direct investment tradeoffs and provide business case ROI oversight
- Oversee efforts to conduct comprehensive competitive positioning, industry trends, and customer needs analysis – using that data to inform forward looking strategy and execution
- Continuously improve internal functional procedures and external processes and systems
- Contribute to non-organic growth initiatives through input into new business model development and/or acquisition opportunities
- Mentor a team of product managers, ensuring alignment with business goals while promoting the organization’s core values, by setting clear objectives, providing feedback and facilitating growth opportunities
- Contribute to organizational design, workforce planning, recruiting and talent development to build a scalable product management operating model
- Identify product, market, competitive and operational risks and work cross-functionally to mitigate those risks
- Engage strategic customers, partners, and industry groups to represent the product vision, validate roadmap direction, and strengthen market presence.
- Act as a thought leader in innovation by driving new product concepts and exploring opportunities to adopt emerging technologies, enabling a future pipeline of new business ideas that are differentiated in the market place
- Communicate product strategy, portfolio decisions, and performance to executive leadership, driving alignment and cross‑functional support for long‑range strategic initiatives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or related field; MBA preferred
- 15 years of progressive experience in B2B product development and/or product portfolio management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and project management skills with a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage complex projects
- Strong understanding of product development financial models and product lifecycle management processes with a track record of strategic planning and execution
- Demonstrated ability to uncover market opportunities, develop business cases, execute on objectives and measure success
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies
- Experience in the building materials industry is a plus
