The Billing Specialist plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of group insurance billing and enrollment activities. This position is responsible for managing premium statements, reconciling payments, and maintaining precise eligibility and coverage data. Acting as a primary point of contact for internal teams and external clients, the Billing Specialist delivers exceptional service while meeting strict deadlines and supporting the department’s operational goals. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
How You'll Make An Impact
Required: High School diploma/equivalent plus 1 year directly applicable experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic math skills. Appropriate licensing as required.
Preferred: Associate's degree, professional certification, or equivalent training and experience preferred. Previous experience managing client relationships. Two (2) years of professional experience in an enrollment/premium billing department in an insurance environment is a plus
Behaviors: Exceptional organizational skills, Proficient in using technology as a tool to maximize productivity and quality. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation And Benefits
We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours. How You'll Make An Impact
- Review and accurately process enrollment applications, terminations, and changes based on policy limitations, requesting Evidence of Insurability where required.
- Monthly preparation of accurate and timely premium statements for groups based on the applicable insurance coverages.
- Timely reconcile the premium payments received from groups and accurately input data into designated software program(s).
- Respond to internal and external customer inquiries (phone calls and emails) timely, professionally and courteously.
- Verification of eligibility and coverage/premium data for carriers on claims received.
- Annually update census data on all assigned groups.
- Meet multiple schedule deadlines on time.
- Organize workload for efficient time-management.
- Perform various clerical and other duties as assigned.
