Position Overview
The Bar Lead at The Inn & Club at Harbour Town plays a dual role as both a hands-on service professional and an operational leader. This position is responsible for overseeing bar and poolside beverage operations while delivering refined, anticipatory service in alignment with Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star standards.
As a visible leader on the floor, the Bar Lead ensures consistency in execution, elevates team performance, and creates a seamless, engaging guest experience across all beverage outlets.
Key Responsibilities
Luxury Service & Guest Experience
- Deliver Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star service standards in every interaction
- Provide anticipatory, personalized service with polished communication and professional presence
- Engage guests with confidence, offering tailored recommendations on cocktails, wine, and beverages
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring full satisfaction
Bar Operations & Execution
- Prepare and serve craft cocktails, wine, beer, and specialty beverages with precision and consistency
- Maintain expert knowledge of spirits, wine varietals, beer selections, and seasonal offerings
- Ensure bar and poolside areas are impeccably clean, organized, and presentation-ready at all times
- Monitor and enforce responsible alcohol service in accordance with South Carolina laws
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead by example through active participation in service during all shifts
- Coach, mentor, and support bartenders and service staff to maintain luxury service standards
- Reinforce Forbes standards, including Courtesy & Manners, Efficiency & Flow of Service, and Professionalism
- Assist with training, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members
Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily bar setup, service flow, and closing procedures
- Manage inventory levels, assist with ordering, and ensure proper product handling to minimize waste
- Maintain accuracy in POS transactions, cash handling, and financial accountability
- Collaborate with culinary and service teams to ensure seamless food and beverage delivery
- Support special events, private functions, and VIP guest experiences with discretion and elevated execution
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a luxury or upscale hospitality environment
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of mixology, wine, beer, and beverage presentation
- Excellent communication, organizational, and guest engagement skills
- Proven ability to lead while maintaining hands-on service standards
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
