Position Overview
The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) Membership Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the administrative functions of NESA within Scouting America’s Membership Engagement Department. This position is responsible for ensuring exceptional service to Eagle Scout alumni nationwide.
The coordinator provides comprehensive administrative support to NESA staff and volunteers, including responsibilities related to membership enrollment, award tracking and processing, communications and marketing support, and event coordination. This role requires a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills who can work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Additionally, the coordinator contributes to membership growth initiatives, helping to strengthen outreach, engagement, and the overall alumni experience. The position reports to the Manager of the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) Program.
Responsibilities
- Tracks/processes NESA awards that include the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award, NESA Distinguished Service Award, NESA Silver Wreath Award, and NESA Legacy Society Fellowship.
- Assists with triage and response for all NESA related email inboxes.
- Assists with coordination of NESA marketing and communication efforts including social media.
- Assists with NESA in-person event coordination including National Scouting Jamboree, National Order of the Arrow Conference, and National Annual Meeting events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Knowledge of: Scouting America programs, especially Eagle Scout requirements and recognition; Alumni/membership program management and nonprofit engagement; digital platforms and CRM systems for membership and alumni management.
- Skilled in: Managing multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail; communicating effectively in writing and verbally with staff, volunteers, and Eagle Scout alumni; coordinating award processes and recognition events with diplomacy; data accuracy, reporting, and digital engagement.
- Ability to: Support and collaborate with volunteer boards and committees; handle confidential information with discretion; innovate and problem-solve in resource-conscious settings; deliver consistent, professional service to Eagle Scout alumni and councils.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of proven experience in alumni relations or administrative support.
- Must pass a criminal history background check.
Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.
Preference
Experience working with committees and volunteers or alumni/digital platforms.
