Summer Camp Director

Position Description: Camp Director
Reports to: Director of Camping
Locations: John E. Reeves Cub World (Alpine, NJ), Ten Mile River Scout Camps (Narrowsburg, NY)
Description: Under the guidance of the Director of Camping, the Camp Director is responsible for oversight over their assigned camp. The camp director must be a responsible and capable person at least 21 years old. The person must have at least two years of experience as a adult camp staff member. The camp director must have a current (within five years) certificate of training from a BSA Management National Camping School or willingness to obtain certification before the opening of camp. The director must also live on-site and have no other duties assigned. This person must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Responsibilities: The camp director is responsible for the management and operation of their assigned camp and ensuring that BSA national standards are met. The camp director may delegate supervision of certain employees to key staff members.
Specific Duties: The camp director’s specific duties include the following;

Oversee the training of camp staff members and conduct staff meetings
Maintain and evaluate staff performance
Enforce all BSA, local council and camp policies, rules and regulations
Oversee operation of the camp trading post and ensure fiscal policies are followed
Meet BSA national standards within every applicable area of responsibility
Work with rangers, fellow directors and other key staff members to ensure objectives are met
Assist with selecting and recruiting capable camp staff members.
Oversee weekly class design and ensure program quality meets or exceeds BSA standards
Participate in pre-camp communications and promotions including unit leader meetings, emails and social media posts
All other duties as assigned
