What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manual Machinist position at Scout?
- Set up, and operation of lathes and mills using machine tools; lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders to perform precision machining operations on new and rework parts.
- Ability to read blueprints, calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Ability to hold tolerances within .0001”.
- Ensures all components are properly de-burred, cleaned, and free from foreign material.
- Responsible for the inspection of parts for conformance to requirements holding close tolerances and maximum efficiencies.
- Confer with supervisory or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with Company’s procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
- Completes paperwork to maintain records, fills out inspection reports, and follows department standards.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Perform other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of position-related education in a job/shop setting.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand mechanical drawings required.
- Demonstrated understanding of basic math skills required.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments (i.e. micrometers, veneers, and calipers) as required.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) to interact with co-workers, managers, customers, and vendors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment around large and noisy equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License.
