Manual Machinist, Full-time, Non-exempt
2nd Shift (6p – 6a, M-F, flexible weekends)
$20/hr ( $1/hr night shift premium)
Ameriforge is in search of a Manual Machinist to help support operations at 13770 Industrial Road, Houston, TX 77015. The qualified candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating manual machinery to fabricate parts for efficient and timely production of parts.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets up and operates manual machines
- Loads parts in machine, cycles machine, detects malfunctions in machine operations such as warn or damaged cutting tools
- Performs typical machine shop operations
- Plans and lays out assigned work applying shop trade knowledge
- Runs production lots and communicates with co-workers regarding production runs
- Responsible for performing inspection of machined parts using scales, micrometers and calipers
- Detects and reports defective materials or parts to management
- Makes necessary tool adjustments and replaces tools as required
- Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition including removing metal shavings/chips from equipment in a safe manner
- Follows quality requirements to ensure a high level of quality in machined parts
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Support and/or participate in the organization’s Continuous Improvement Programs
- Proactively participates in Ameriforge’s Safety Program
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Adaptable knowledge of manual machine operation
- Knowledgeable in the use of scales, micrometers and calipers
- Good communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent knowledge of machinery and understanding procedures
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment
- Ability to understand basic mathematics
- Bilingual (English/Spanish), a plus.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Tool & Die operation experience is a plus
Physical & Safety Requirements:
- Standing, bending, sitting, lifting up to 30-50#, squatting and walking for 8 to 12 hours per day.
- Exposure to Production environment on a daily basis.
