Staff Accountant

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Staff Accountant for a mission-driven nonprofit organization supporting impactful programs. This is an onsite opportunity based in Burlingame, CA.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Are you an experienced accountant looking for your next contract opportunity? This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced nonprofit environment and enjoys a blend of payroll and accounting responsibilities. In this position, you will support full-cycle accounting operations, payroll processing, and financial reporting while working closely with the Controller and finance team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process payroll and support payroll-related functions using ADP Workforce Now
• Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end close, financial reporting, and audit preparation
• Maintain accuracy of financial data and ensure compliance with internal controls
• Support accounting operations using systems such as Blackbaud Financial Edge
• Collaborate with the Controller and finance team on ongoing accounting initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in payroll processing and accounting operations
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliations
• Proficiency with accounting systems such as ADP Workforce Now and Financial Edge
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This temporary opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate of $35–$44/hour, depending on experience, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. The assignment is anticipated to last approximately 3 months, with potential for extension. This role provides valuable exposure to payroll, accounting operations, and audit support within a respected nonprofit organization.
