Scion Legal Staffing has been engaged to conduct a confidential search on behalf of a highly respected and nationally recognized plaintiffs’ litigation firm seeking a talented Brief Writer / Law and Motion Attorney to join its growing team in either Los Angeles or Emeryville, California.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney who enjoys the analytical and strategic side of litigation and wants to focus heavily on legal writing, motion practice, and complex briefing work within sophisticated employment and class action litigation matters.
The firm handles impactful plaintiff-side litigation involving wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, whistleblower, consumer protection, and complex class action matters throughout California and nationally.
Legal Opportunity Overview
The selected attorney will play a key role in supporting high-stakes litigation matters through substantive legal writing and strategic motion practice. This position offers close collaboration with experienced litigators on complex and meaningful cases while maintaining strong work-life balance through a hybrid schedule with remote flexibility.

Responsibilities
This position offers a salary range of $130,000 to $175,000 annually depending on experience, writing background, and overall qualifications. Responsibilities
- Draft and argue motions, oppositions, replies, and other substantive pleadings
- Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis related to employment and complex litigation matters
- Prepare class certification briefing, dispositive motions, discovery motions, and appellate support briefing
- Collaborate closely with partners and litigation teams on case strategy
- Analyze evolving California and federal case law and provide strategic recommendations
- Assist with trial briefing, evidentiary motions, and pre-trial submissions
- Support high-stakes litigation matters from inception through resolution
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar admission in good standing
- 3 years of litigation experience with substantial law and motion exposure
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills
- Experience drafting dispositive motions, discovery motions, and complex briefing
- Employment litigation, class action, consumer, or complex litigation experience strongly preferred
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality written work
