Job Summary:
The Senior IT Manager serves as the organization’s lead technology resource, overseeing a broad range of IT functions including end-user support, infrastructure, security, data governance, and emerging technology adoption. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who combines strong technical expertise with operational execution in a fast-paced, lean environment.
This individual manages a small IT support function and collaborates closely with external IT service providers to support day-to-day operations and larger initiatives. The role also acts as a key internal contact for business systems and helps guide the rollout and adoption of new productivity technologies, including AI-enabled tools.
Job Responsibilities:
End-User Support & Helpdesk Operations
- Act as an escalation point for technical support issues, ensuring timely resolution across hardware, software, and connectivity needs
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior IT support staff
- Maintain and improve helpdesk processes, ticketing systems, and service levels
- Serve as a reliable internal resource for employee technology needs
Infrastructure & Cloud Systems
- Oversee IT infrastructure including networks, cloud platforms, and endpoint management
- Manage file storage and collaboration environments to ensure accessibility and organization
- Partner with external providers on system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements
- Monitor system performance and proactively address risks
- Oversee hardware/software lifecycle, procurement, and asset tracking
- Support connectivity across office and collaboration environments (e.g., Wi-Fi, VPN, AV systems)
Data Governance & Collaboration Platforms
- Maintain and optimize collaboration platforms and document management systems
- Establish standards for organization, access, and lifecycle management of digital content
- Implement best practices for permissions, naming conventions, and data structure
- Support readiness for AI-enabled tools through strong data governance practices
Security & Compliance
- Maintain IT security controls, including identity management, endpoint protection, and access controls
- Develop and enforce policies aligned with industry best practices and regulatory expectations
- Monitor for security risks and coordinate incident response as needed
- Support data governance, retention policies, and privacy requirements
- Lead employee awareness and training initiatives related to security and compliance
Vendor & Technology Management
- Manage relationships with external IT providers and technology vendors
- Oversee service delivery, contracts, and ongoing performance
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and solutions aligned with business needs
Business Applications
- Serve as a primary contact for internal business systems and tools
- Support system configuration, access, and issue resolution
- Ensure integration and data flow across platforms
- Assess and implement new applications as needed
AI Tools & Technology Enablement
- Support rollout and adoption of AI-enabled productivity tools
- Develop training, usage guidelines, and internal best practices
- Identify use cases and drive engagement across teams
- Monitor adoption and recommend enhancements based on evolving capabilities
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Ensure efficient provisioning and setup of systems and equipment for new hires
- Oversee timely deactivation of access and recovery of assets for departing employees
- Continuously improve onboarding and offboarding workflows
Skills & Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7 years of progressive IT experience, including leadership responsibility
- Experience supporting cloud-based environments and modern workplace tools
- Background working with third-party IT vendors or managed services providers
- Experience in regulated environments is a plus
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, and cloud systems
- Familiarity with security best practices (e.g., access controls, MFA, endpoint protection)
- Experience with collaboration platforms and data governance practices
- Exposure to AI productivity tools or automation technologies is a plus
- Relevant certifications are beneficial but not required
Leadership & Collaboration
- Experience managing or mentoring team members in a lean environment
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Comfortable working with external partners and holding vendors accountable
Communication
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to a broad audience
- Experience creating documentation, training materials, and internal policies
