The Senior/Principal Scientist, Metabolic Discovery & Enzyme Engineering will be responsible for conducting mechanistic and discovery studies critical to preclinical-programs related to hard to address metabolic indications. The candidate will also contribute significantly to new target identification and provide scientific contributions across metabolic disease programs.
Job Responsibilities:
These may include but are not limited to:
- Drive the identification and evaluation of new targets in liver disease, obesity or related metabolic diseases.
- Design, develop and conduct in vivo assays in metabolically relevant cell-types.
- Lead in vitro initiatives in metabolic disease drug development programs.
- Lead external collaborations and outsourced studies.
- Contribute to the proposal and evaluation of biomarkers to inform on PK/PD relationships and mechanism of action.
- Present findings at team/cross-functional meetings and scientific conferences.
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative to troubleshoot and accurately perform data analysis on in vivo studies.
- Analyze and present experimental data using Prism, Excel, MS Office or comparable software.
- Ensure compliance with company established practices and procedures, including laboratory notebooks, computer files, quality and regulatory guidelines, and safety standards.
- Perform timely data verification and ensure accuracy for laboratory notebooks, protocols, reports, and regulatory filings.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in relevant discipline with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience (preferred).
- 3 years of experience in drug discovery in metabolic diseases.
- Experience in leading components of metabolic disease drug discovery programs is desired; demonstrated potential to eventually assume a program leadership role is essential.
- Experience in designing and conducting in vivo studies in primary cultures of relevance to metabolic disease, minimally including experience in hepatocyte and adipocyte models.
- Expertise in engineering Enzymes using various laboratory methods OR in depth domain knowledge in Enzymatic Metabolic pathways
- Must be independent and able to follow pre-established experimental designs, as well as develop new methods, protocols, and technologies based on existing literature.
- Able to effectively communicate and present summaries of research results
- Must have a strong work ethic and be enthusiastic for animal and laboratory work.
- Must be detail-oriented, punctual, and reliable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant research in investigating Bile Acid Metabolism studies
- Expertise in Protein Engineering preferably relating to microbial enzyme studies
- Investigative research in Anaerobic Strain Systems for expression
Salary : $130,000 - $170,000
