What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Crew Member position at Schuber Mitchell Homes LLC?
Position Summary
The Crew Member performs manual labor and is required to operate a variety of contractor equipment and trucks used in construction. This position also performs a variety of semiskilled tasks in the maintenance of sewer, water, and storm drainage systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works alongside a team of operators and laborers
- Orders materials, shoots grade, calls locate, and reads plans efficiently
- Operates vehicles of various size and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of equipment, materials, and supplies
- Operates various construction equipment including excavator, bulldozer, skid loader, backhoe, front end loader, and dump truck
- Works with and assists the line crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with equipment
- Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor
- Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices
- Follows jobsite safety standards
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience required
- OSHA training required within six (6) months of hire
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a company vehicle
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Works outdoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment, with high noise levels
- Prolonged periods of walking and standing required
- Frequently required to sit, lift, pull, and push objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Frequently required to work in cramped or confined workspaces
