Position Summary
The Project Estimator will collect and analyze information to estimate costs and services for assigned departments and projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Estimates the cost of new and proposed projects and services including labor, equipment, materials, and other general conditions.
- Creates and maintains budgets and tracks changes throughout the project.
- Analyzes the feasibility of potential projects and any modifications to the projects and services provided.
- Develops and maintains vendor and trade working relationships.
- Collaborates with other departments to produce detailed reports, including the itemization of project costs and forecasts of outstanding expenses.
- Documents data and statistical procedures used in conducting cost analysis.
- Ensures accurate contracts are in place for all work being performed.
- Provides general guidance to employees regarding project details.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline required.
- At least 5 years’ experience preferred.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and estimating software.
- Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrable analytical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment, with low noise levels.
- Prolonged periods of sitting required.
- Rarely required to lift, pull, and push objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
