What Sets This Role Apart
In this Excavation Technician - Heavy Equipment Operator role, you will be responsible for installing underground utilities, including storm and sanitary sewer, water main, and related infrastructure. Daily tasks will include excavation, trenching, earthmoving, and mass grading operations, as well as grading and installing stone subbase for roads, parking lots, curbs, sidewalks, and foundations. You will operate a variety of heavy equipment and utilize construction lasers and GPS grade control systems. You will review construction plans, keep the jobsite and equipment organized, assist project leaders with planning and coordination, and ensure that all work meets established production and quality standards. Safety and compliance with OSHA regulations are essential parts of this position.

Excavation Technician - Heavy Equipment Operator Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- 5 years of sitework, excavation, or civil construction experience (10 years preferred)
- Strong experience in underground utilities, grading, and heavy civil construction
- Heavy equipment operating experience (excavator, dozer, loader, skid steer)
- Experience using construction lasers and pipe lasers (GPS experience preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and scopes of work
- Ability to perform physically demanding field work
