Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Educational Supports and Intervention Supervisor and Elementary Principal, the MTSS

Instructional Paraeducator works to provide targeted instructional support to K–6th grade students with identified needs in

Math and Reading. This position requires a dedicated individual who can deliver evidence-based tiered interventions and

support data-driven decision-making within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework.

Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or 60 college credits preferred
  • Demonstrated competency level (WorkKeys test or ETS Paraprofessional Assessment) for meeting highly qualified status, or an associate degree
  • Experience working with elementary-age students, particularly in academic intervention settings
  • Ability to assess and document student progress accurately and consistently
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of technology, including Google Workspace and digital applications
  • Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students across general and special education settings
  • Strong organizational, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with various personality types and diverse learning needs

  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude when working with students who have diverse learning styles or challenging behaviors
  • Capacity to work effectively as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Implement evidence-based tiered interventions in Math and Reading with fidelity, adapting support based on student response
  • Work with students identified as needing additional support based on classroom and screening data
  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction using a variety of differentiated instructional strategies
  • Use screening tools to identify student needs and inform targeted intervention planning
  • Assess and document student progress; maintain accurate, detailed records for data review
  • Actively participate in team review meetings, share observations, and ask questions about student progress
  • Understand and adjust support strategies, when appropriate, in collaboration with the instructional team
  • Maintain consistent, clear communication with the MTSS team and classroom teachers regarding student progress and needs
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide a productive learning environment
  • Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional strategies; demonstrate excellent work habits, reliability, and initiative
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information in accordance with FERPA regulations
  • Participate in professional development and team meetings as required
  • Perform other duties during Title-funded time as assigned by the ESI Supervisor, or Elementary Principal, only as allowed by federal legislation and approved by the regional consultant

Hours and Schedule:

  • Full-time position following the school calendar (approximately 180 instructional days)
  • Regular school hours with occasional staff meetings and professional development sessions
  • Position may include district-provided training days prior to the start of the school year
