Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP is seeking an associate for our Litigation Department with 2 - 7 years’ experience in professional liability or complex commercial cases.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage a diverse caseload of professional liability and complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions
- Conduct and defend depositions, including expert depositions
- Prepare pleadings, discovery, and trial materials
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances
- Collaborate closely with partners and clients to develop litigation strategy
- Provide clear, timely client communication and case analysis
Qualifications:
- 2–7 years of relevant litigation experience, with demonstrated exposure to professional liability and/or complex commercial matters
- Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills
- Significant experience in all aspects of trial advocacy (including depositions, motions, and orders to show cause)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and case-management abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
- Must be admitted to practice and in good standing with the New Jersey Bar
Preferred (but not required):
- First-chair deposition or courtroom experience
- Experience handling matters in state and federal court
- Familiarity with e-discovery platforms
- Portable business or business development interest is a plus
The annualized salary range for this position is $130,000 - $170,000. Actual pay will be
adjusted based upon experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
