What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Supervisor - Behavioral Health Wraparound Children Services position at SCHARP?
Duties
- Supervises and provides clinical oversight for the Children’s Clinicians. Assists them in providing clinical direction in assisting clients to achieve program goals and in developing recovery-oriented solutions for client problems and needs.
- Ensures all Children’s Outpatient protocols are qualitatively followed and reports to the Program Director of any discrepancies of established clinical and administrative systems.
- Functions as QMHP for assigned Clinicians ensuring Assessments and Problems Lists are clinically relevant and promote recovery to the individual client as well as completed, reviewed and countersigned in a timely manner as specified by Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health standards.
- Review and countersign all Assessments, Discharges, Outcome Measures and Progress Notes for clients to ensure that documentation meets the guidelines as specified by Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
- In conjunction with the Program Director plans and implements relevant in-service training for the staff. Provides in-service training and identifies outside resources as needed.
- Accompanies staff, initially and intermittently, as needed and assigned by Program Director, to conduct supervision and support to clinicians with their assigned clients to improve delivery of quality service.
- Maintain contact with family members and significant other support persons of clients as appropriate. Follow up on any client grievances, following SCHARP policies and procedures.
- Assists Program Director with ensuring Clinicians are maintaining productivity of 5 hours of billable service per day. Ensures that service codes and time billed is correct and appropriate. Communicates any discrepancies to the Program Director.
- Participates in quality assurance activities as directed by the Director, including the 30-day Chart Review Tools, the annual chart reviews and assists with quarterly QA Chart Reviews and ensures that all client cases are reviewed in a timely manner and that all documentation meets Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health standards.
- Attends and participates in all pertinent SCHARP, DMH and other agency meetings as necessary.
- Provides clinical services to clients in the Children’s Program as necessary and as assigned by the Program Director.
- Reviews all Failed Activities and Failed Claims daily and works with clinicians to resolve discrepancies.
- Reviews Outcome Measures to ensure accuracy, completeness and timely completion.
- Reviews all Discharge submissions and reviews charts for accuracy and completeness before submitting to the Admin and Records Department.
- Assists in the onboarding and training of new staff.
- Other Administrative and clinical duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be able to pass California State Department of Justice criminal background investigation, Live Scan and/or fingerprinting.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or related field. Licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology.
- licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences with either an LCSW.
- Qualifies as a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) by the Department of Mental Health.
Experience:
- Must have at least 4 years of experience providing clinical mental health services to children and youth with mental health disorders.
- Must have 2 years of post-licensure experience with the ability to provide clinical supervision to others accruing hours towards licensure.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in providing supervision to others.
Special Skills and Knowledge:
- Must have completed standard requirements by the Board of Behavioral Sciences to provide clinical supervision to staff engaged in pre-licensure activities.
- Bilingual (Spanish) and bicultural preferred, but not required.
- Ability to provide leadership to clinical staff.
- Ability to respond quickly, effectively and with equanimity to client crisis and life situations.
- Ability to communicate well verbally and to articulate a recovery-oriented treatment model.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Knowledge of Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health’s Rehab Option model of service provision and documentation requirements.
- Basic computer skills and literacy are required to use the agency electronic health record. Staff must be able to logon, type, use a mouse and negotiate through various screens or windows to complete daily chart documentation.
- Ability to work as a team member and to work with other agencies, collaborators and community resources.
- Must have a valid California Driver’s license and the availability of a car with adequate insurance.
