POSITION PROFILE:

The Data Specialist is responsible for technical support for the Development team, working primarily with the donor management platform, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT. The ideal candidate must have strong proficiency working with Raiser’s Edge and is experienced with database management. This position captures and manages all existing, new and prospective donor data that represents fundraising and stewardship efforts. The position is part-time, benefits eligible, and is stationed at the Viewridge location in Kearny Mesa.


Position is not eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the Raiser’s Edge NXT systems administrator and responsible for accurate database information and management.
  • Maintains quality of data entered, identifies errors, and provides feedback on discrepancies found, and performs updated entry when necessary.
  • Responsible for the timely data entry and coding of all gifts received to include associated campaigns and corresponding notes.
  • Responsible for regular reconciliation of gifts and related reports with SAY’s Finance
  • Department.
  • Develops new workflows and creates report analytics and rules to maximize utilization of Raiser’s Edge NXT. Provide recommended improvements to foster more efficient database management of Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Maintains all established departmental protocols determined by the development team.
  • Provides timely acknowledgment of gifts and follows assigned templates for specific campaigns.
  • Completes data uploads, data entry and data hygiene, as needed.
  • Extracts database information for use in presentations and reporting efforts.
  • Compiles data and creates reports for the development team and supports all fundraising campaigns and fiscal reports as requested.
  • Adheres to all confidential and protected donor data information Provides data management support to Privacy and Security Officers, Compliance Committee, Grants Management, and Development staff as needed.
  • Performs well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate to advance proficiency using Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • 2 years’ development support experience with CRM database systems, highly preferred.
  • Recent experience working in a non-profit environment is desired.

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Intermediate or advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent data entry skills with the ability to accurately and concisely document data, campaigns and client relationships in a clear and concise manner.
  • Attention to detail and strong time management to effectively manage multiple demands and time-sensitive priorities.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Works well with a broad range of diverse, cultural, and socio-economic populations and backgrounds.
