What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Leader position at SAY San Diego (Social Advocates for Youth)?
POSITION PROFILE:
The Youth Leader assists with the implementation of the Extended Day, before and after school programs, on a public-school site within the San Diego Unified School District.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Assists Site Supervisor in planning program curriculum.
•Assists Site Supervisor in implementing program curriculum.
•Actively participates with children in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities including any or allthe following: physical fitness, organized sports, academic projects, fine arts, and practical arts.
•Maintain positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.
•Participate in the development of age-appropriate weekly activity plans in accordance withprogram guidelines.
•Supervision of children.
•Prepare and provide daily snacks for children.
•Perform daily attendance and sign in and out procedures as assigned.
•Participation in monthly staff and activity leader training.
•Attend meetings and agency functions as required.
•Occasionally substitute at other sites.
•Other tasks as assigned by the Site Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications):
•A minimum of 6 months’ experience in the supervision and management of groups of childrenages 5-14.
•A minimum of 48 college units; 12 of those units in child development or related fields required OR passed CAPE exam.
•Favorable pre-employment TB test and health screening required.
•Favorable pre-employment DOJ/FBI fingerprinting clearance and child abuse index processingrequired.
•Current CPR and First aid certificate must be provided within 30 days of employment.
•Immunization Records (influenza, pertussis, and measles) must be provided before first day ofemployment.
•Access to reliable transportation required.
