What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher/Classroom Assistant position at Save Our Children of Elyria, Inc.?
Job Responsibilities:
- Report to and assist Classroom Teacher with daily tasks
- Assist students with homework and prepared activities
- Assist and supervise field trips/outings
- Supervise students in classroom clean-up and help ensure that classrooms and facility are clean and organized daily
- Work with Administration, Teachers, Assistants, Education Coordinator, Van Drivers, and Volunteers
- Assist Teacher with taking daily attendance
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled teacher and/or staff meetings
- Collaborate with team members to help SOC accomplish our mission and goals
- Develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships
- Maintain a cooperative relationship with administration, staff, students, and parents
- Enforce all program rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Maintain program schedules
- Maintain professional level of conduct at all times
- Model personal behaviors of honesty, fairness, courtesy, consideration, respect, cultural awareness, and responsibility
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- High School Diploma/Associate Degree or some college (preferred)
- 2 years minimum work experience in a non-profit organization and/or youth development (preferred)
- Time Management
- Basic Math and Reading
- Proficient Spelling and Grammar
- Attention to Detail
- Customer Oriented
- Verbal & Written Communication
- Proficient in Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Ability to work as a team or alone if necessary
- Demonstrate kindness and patience with children and families
- Capability to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, and evaluate performance
- Ability to multi-task and work in stressful situations
