Role Description
This is an on-site, contract-based position for a Hardware Bring-Up & Validation Engineer (FPGA/CPU) located in Santa Clara, CA. The role involves responsibilities such as performing RTL design, debugging issues in hardware bring-up phases, ensuring functional verification of designs, and conducting validation tasks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product success and adherence to quality standards. Additionally, you’ll work on implementing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to support high-quality hardware production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform board bring-up, testing & debugging of FPGA/CPU systems
• Review system specs (electrical, power, thermal, mechanical)
• Collaborate with design, firmware & external teams
• Support schematic, layout & system design reviews
• Validate components, analyze datasheets & ensure design compliance
Must-Have Skills:
• Strong hands-on experience in board bring-up & hardware debugging
• Experience with lab tools: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, soldering
• Experience with interfaces:
- High-speed: PCIe, USB, Ethernet
- Low-speed: SPI, I2C, UART, JTAG
• Knowledge of power systems, SI, thermal
• Experience with OrCAD / Allegro
• Strong problem-solving & communication skills
Nice to Have:
• Linux kernel / drivers
• C/C / Python / Verilog / TCL
• Xilinx FPGA tools
• x86 architecture / OCP exposure
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering
• 5 years of hardware design / bring-up experience
