Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Engineer to support OEM programs across key manufacturing domains, including steel stamping, welding, plastic injection molding, foam manufacturing, and seating trim materials (PVC, PU, leather). This role focuses on cost estimation, analysis, and optimization for automotive seating systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and validate cost models for seating components across multiple manufacturing processes
- Analyze supplier quotations and manufacturing data to ensure cost accuracy and competitiveness
- Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Support sourcing decisions with detailed cost breakdowns and technical evaluations
- Lead cost benchmarking activities across seating commodities:
- Steel stamping & welding
- Plastic injection molding
- Foam manufacturing
- Seating trim materials (PVC, PU, leather)
- Evaluate design changes and their impact on cost and manufacturability
- Prepare and present cost analysis reports to internal stakeholders and OEM teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 5 years of experience in automotive seating engineering or cost estimation
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials used in seating systems
- Proficiency in cost modeling techniques and tools
- Experience working with OEMs and supplier ecosystems
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with global supplier base and cost structures
- Knowledge of CAD tools and engineering drawings
- Experience with cost engineering software (e.g., aPriori, Costimator)
