Position Description
Responsible for operation and minor maintenance of mobile and stationary equipment associated with coal handling, grounds upkeep, and other bulk materials handling. Also operates equipment used in fly ash operation.
Essential Job Tasks:
Responsible for operation, monitoring, inspecting, and minor maintenance of stationary equipment associated with coal handling, coal system upkeep, and other bulk materials handling.
Operating heavy equipment such as bull dozers, front end loaders, backhoes, tractors, train locomotives, and other equipment used in bulk materials handling.
Pushes coal from under chutes while unloading trains. Feeds coal to reclaim troughs for stacker/reclaimer operations. Pushes coal to coal feeders for coaling up units. Manages coal piles by pushing, sloping, and compacting coal to prevent run off and coal fires.
Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs to mobile equipment and station equipment in regularly assigned area to ensure reliable operation.
Develops in-depth knowledge of station systems to ensure ability to operate effectively in emergency situations and increase station reliability. This includes on the job training of co-workers.
Operates coal system through Foxboro DCS, maintains, and troubleshoots coal conveyors, unloading systems, tripper cars, chutes, and other associated equipment.
Performs utility and other related duties as required such as unloading fuel trucks and washing/cleaning coal from conveyors and car dumper. Sample, weigh, and label coal as trains are unloaded.
Operates processing equipment for making wet ash and assist with dry ash truck loading.
Opens and closes valves, racks electrical breakers in and out for LOTO (lockout tag-out) clearance purposes.
Position Requirements
Will consider Equipment Operator III or II
Equipment Operator III
High school diploma/GED 5 years related experience is required.
Additional technical courses in mechanics/welding and background in mechanics, or heavy mobile equipment operations/ maintenance is desirable.
