Position Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Security and Security Officer to join our team. This role is critical in overseeing the safety, security, loss prevention, and EHS compliance of our facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for protecting company assets, preventing theft and fraud, ensuring a safe working environment, and supporting emergency response initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine safety inspections, facility patrols, and hazard assessments throughout production, warehouse, dock, office, parking, and exterior areas.
- Identify, document, report, and help correct unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, PPE violations, housekeeping concerns, blocked exits, and other workplace hazards.
- Support compliance with OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulations, company safety policies, emergency procedures, GMPs, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Respond to workplace incidents, injuries, alarms, evacuations, suspicious activity, and other emergency situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Monitor CCTV systems, fire alarms, access control systems, restricted areas, and other security-related systems.
- Assist with incident investigations, near-miss reporting, corrective-action follow-up, and maintenance of safety and security records.
- Reinforce employee understanding of PPE requirements, safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and company safety expectations.
- Assist with safety training, toolbox talks, inspections, and prevention-focused communications.
- Complete shift reports, inspection forms, incident documentation, and other assigned records accurately and timely.
- Communicate professionally with employees, supervisors, HR, Operations, Facilities, and leadership regarding safety or security concerns.
- Perform other safety, security, compliance, and operational support duties as assigned that contribute to the overall success of the company.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of experience in industrial safety, security, manufacturing, warehouse operations, food processing, logistics, or related fields preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements, workplace hazard recognition, incident reporting, and emergency response procedures preferred.
- Experience with CCTV, alarms, access control systems, or facility security monitoring preferred.
- Strong observation, communication, documentation, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies or high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Perform safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations in office, warehouse, production, and outdoor environments.
- Frequently walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb stairs or ladders throughout the workday.
- Occasionally kneel, crouch, push, pull, and work in confined or active operational areas.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, respiratory protection, fall protection, and other site-required equipment as applicable.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely, calm, and professional manner.
- Ability to work in varying environmental and temperature conditions in compliance with applicable OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced seafood production and distribution environment with refrigerated, wet, and cold conditions.
Frequent walking, standing, patrolling, bending, and movement throughout warehouse, production, dock, office, and exterior areas.
