The Fresh Room Production Supervisor oversees and coordinates all daily functions within the Fresh Room, ensuring efficient operations in receiving, sanitation, cutting, packing, product processing, inventory control, and order preparation. This role leads and directs Fresh Room staff, ensures compliance with food safety and quality standards, maintains accurate documentation, and supports consistent workflow throughout the department.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for sanitation, product picking, cutting, packing, and processing.
- Responsible for receiving and unloading incoming product.
- Completes negative balance, replenishment, and open stock reports.
- Conducts cycle counts and reports results to the manager.
- Assists with employee directives to maintain consistent workflow.
- Performs all essential duties in alignment with required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Essential Duties
Fresh Room Operations
- Oversees all Fresh Room functions including receiving, cutting, packing, and processing.
- Ensures proper product rotation, storage, icing, and return-to-cooler procedures at shift end.
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of the Fresh Room; verifies area is swept, washed, sanitized, and equipment stored properly.
- Ensures chemicals are stored in appropriate locations.
Leadership & Staff Support
- Provides guidance, leadership, and training to employees.
- Provides continuous performance feedback, participates in quarterly reviews, and supports disciplinary measures when necessary.
- Reviews picking, packing, and cutting opportunities and provides feedback to employees.
- Participates in interviewing and selecting new hires.
- Ensures employees follow all company policies and procedures.
Inventory & Reporting
- Runs daily reports including Replenishment, Negative Balance, and Open Stock Location reports.
- Completes daily and weekly inventory cycle counts.
- Reviews inventory variances with plant manager.
- Reviews short‑date items with plant manager or QAM.
- Reviews and monitors fresh and thaw demands.
Receiving & Order Fulfillment
- Oversees receiving and put‑away of fresh shipments.
- Expedites receiving and airport pick-ups.
- Oversees inspection and proper handling of product returns.
- Runs picks, prints labels, and assigns or expedites picking and processing.
- Stages routes, scans items, and ensures accurate preparation for loading.
- Assigns or expedites will‑calls.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensures adherence to Federal and State safety regulations.
- Provides instructions and training to promote safe work practices.
- Completes daily checklists.
Other Duties
- Assists in other areas as needed or requested.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years receiving/inventory experience.
- 2 years supervisory experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in the foodservice industry.
- Forklift operator certification preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Working knowledge of onboard computer systems (e.g., AFS, Canopy).
