Job Summary
The Substitute Teacher Assistant I/II pool, under the general supervision of the Supervisor-Head Start Preschool Sites, supports the implementation of a comprehensive education program and assists in ensuring that the education program is developmentally appropriate for each child’s individual needs and meets the program standards.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Teacher Assistant I:
Education: Six (6) semester units in Early Childhood Education
Experience: Some experience working in a childcare program.
Teacher Assistant II:
Education: One year of college-level course work in Early Childhood Education or an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field. 12 semester units must be in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (including 3 core areas: "CUR," "CFC," "GCD."
Experience: six to nine months experience working in a child care/preschool program
Please note: If you were educated outside of the US, you must have your foreign transcripts evaluated by an approved agency. The evaluated summary must state you have completed high school, and if applicable, any college degrees held. Click here for a list of approved agencies.
