Our client is a manufacturing and distribution company seeking an experienced and dependable Staff Accountant to support its accounting operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial information, keeping accounting records organized, and assisting with the company’s day-to-day and monthly financial activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with accounting software and Excel.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing, payments, customer balances, and collections.
- Maintain and review general ledger accounts while completing regular balance sheet and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries and provide support throughout monthly and annual financial close processes.
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with applicable GAAP requirements and company procedures.
- Work within accounting and financial systems to accurately enter, organize, and retrieve financial information.
- Use Microsoft Excel to review, analyze, and organize financial data for reporting and accounting purposes.
- Maintain discretion when working with sensitive financial and company information.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering supporting schedules, reconciliations, and accounting documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, reporting processes, and overall workflow efficiency.
- Work closely with other departments to investigate discrepancies, verify financial information, and ensure accounting records remain accurate and up to date.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least three years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related finance position.
- Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and double-entry accounting.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices.
- Comfortable working with debits and credits, account analysis, budgeting information, and balance sheet accounts.
- Experience with financial controls or SOX-related requirements is a plus.
- Strong data-entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with internal teams and respond professionally to accounting-related questions.
Compensation: up to 95k
