Position Summary
The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food to guests quickly and accurately while supporting servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth, efficient service. This role plays a key part in maintaining presentation standards and creating a positive dining experience in a busy indoor and outdoor beachfront restaurant.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver food from kitchen to guests promptly and accurately
- Verify orders for accuracy, quality, and presentation before leaving the kitchen
- Communicate with kitchen and front-of-house teams to maintain service flow
- Assist servers with table maintenance and guest requests
- Describe menu items when delivering food as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of expo lines and service stations
- Assist with running beverages, clearing tables, and resetting dining areas
- Support opening, closing, and side work duties
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
- Provide friendly, professional guest interaction at all times
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or food service experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Dependable and punctual
- Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Food Handler certification required (or ability to obtain)
Work Environment
- Indoor dining room and open-air beachfront restaurant spaces
- Fast-paced resort setting with high seasonal guest volume
- Exposure to heat, humidity, sun, and changing outdoor weather conditions
- Frequent movement between kitchen and dining areas
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods (8 hours per shift)
- Frequently carry trays and plates up to 30 lbs
- Lift and move items up to 40 lbs occasionally
- Bend, reach, twist, stoop, and kneel throughout shifts
- Walk quickly between indoor and outdoor service areas
- Maintain stamina during busy meal periods
- Navigate crowded dining areas and uneven outdoor surfaces safely
- Continuous use of hands and arms for carrying and serving tasks
