- SUPERVISES: Assistant coaches, and student assistants.
- BASIC FUNCTION: To provide leadership, supervision, and organization of a
A. Competency in the care and prevention of athletic injuries, basic sports injury
first aid and emergency procedures.
B. Competency in coaching theory and techniques in the sport or game being coached. C. Knowledge of the rules and regulations pertaining to the sport or game being coached, league rules and AIA regulations
D. Competency in Child or adolescent psychology as it relates to sports participation. E. Competency in Substance abuse prevention, including but not limited to tobacco, alcohol, steroids and human growth hormones. F. Not to have been convicted of any offense referred to in Education Code 44010, 44011, 44424, or any offense involving moral turpitude or evidencing unfitness to associate them with children.
G. To be free from tuberculosis and any other contagious disease that would
prohibit certificated teachers from teaching.
H. Pass finger print screening. V. COACH'S CODE OF ETHICAL CONDUCT: Employees providing supervisory or instructional services in interscholastic athletic programs and activities shall:
- Show respect for players, officials and other coaches.
- Respect the integrity and judgment of game officials.
- Establish and model fair play, sportsmanship, and proper conduct.
- Establish player safety and welfare as the highest priority.
- Provide proper supervision of students at all times.
F. Use discretion when providing constructive criticism and when reprimanding players
G. Consistently require all players to adhere to the established rules and
standards of the game.
H. Properly instruct players in the safe use of equipment. I. Not exert undue influence on a student's decision to enroll in an athletic program at any public or private post-secondary educational institution.

A. Year-round Responsibilities
1. Formulate objectives for the coming sport season. 2. Keep abreast of rule changes, new ideas and techniques by attending clinics and workshops, reading in his/ her field and encouraging the assistant coaches to do the same. 3. Be knowledgeable of rules and regulations concerning his/her sport. 4. Promotes athletic program to student body to maintain appropriate participation. 5. Implement proper procedures for out-of-season practices according to AIA association guidelines. 6. Inventory, selection, care and maintenance of equipment. 7. Encourages athletes to take PSAT, SAT, ACT. in order to prepare for college.
- Takes a leadership role in promoting athletes and seeking collage
- Assist the Athletic Director as needed.
- Season Responsibilities:
- Check sports schedule and arrangements for all trips with Athletic Director.
- During Season.
D. End of Season a. Arrange for the systematic return of all school equipment and hold the athlete responsible for all equipment not returned. b. Arrange for cleaning, storing, and conducting an inventory of all equipment. c. Recommend student athletes who have fulfilled requirements for athletic letters. Certificates or special awards.
d. Recommend additions and/or improvement for the care and
maintenance of facilities and equipment.
e. Recommend to the Athletic Director and Principal, personnel
for assistant coaching position.
f. Submit recommendations for schedule for next year.
g. Select equipment and make recommendations for purchases of
such.
h. Prepare a budget in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
i. Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments. j. Evaluate past season. k. Return all emergency care cards to ASB Office. l. Return all Keys (except that still need • Experience Required: Three years' teaching experience at the high school level. • Skills, Knowledge and / or Abilities Required: • Ability to work well with people. • Good organizational ability; a sound philosophy of educational leadership based on strong character and decision-making ability supported by sound judgment. • Education Required: Bachelor's Degree including all courses to meet credential requirements. • Personal Qualities: Ability to work well with people; good organizational ability; a sound philosophy of educational leadership based on strong character and decision-making ability supported by sound judgment. • License, Certifications, Bonding, and / or Testing Required: Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
