What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiver position at Samuel, Son & Co. 1855?
Associates to perform all safety checks at the start of their shift on all cranes and tools and document this as necessary. Continue to perform safety checks throughout the shift.
• Perform receiving verification in the purchasing section of the company computer system. Physically count materials to verify vendor packing lists. Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoices, orders or other records. Communicate verbally on receipt of critical material.
• Uses fork lift, cranes, and hoists to move heavy materials.
• Preform inspections using Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions.
• Preform inspection verification in the computer system.
• Mark and distribute accepted material using lift truck or hoist shipments for shipping and receiving platform to storage area.
• Segregate and label non-conforming product. Follow-up until a final disposition is made.
• As necessary, unload material from freight carriers. Inspect for visible damage and check for proper paperwork including material certifications. Call vendors, as necessary to expedite receipt of missing paperwork.
• Process returns for any defective or incorrect items.
• Maintain organization of raw materials, optimizing access to the material and minimizing floor space.
• As necessary, prepare trucks and tanks for shipment.
• Preform cycle counts as necessary.
• Provide support to the stockroom, including knowledge of stockroom policies and procedures.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
• Basic computer knowledge and online applications
• Ability to operate forklift (must obtain certification), hoist, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Be able to accurately use tape measures, levels, calipers, micrometers, UT thickness gages and other inspection instruments.

• Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job.
• Must have a basic understanding of computers.
• Must have reading, writing and simple math skills.
• Must be able to read blue prints.
• Must have either a High School diploma, GED, or at least 1 year working experience in an industrial based environment.
