RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform and document required safety checks on cranes, forklifts, tools, and overhead doors at the start of each shift and throughout the workday.
- Deliver correct materials to workstations, ensuring proper and accurate documentation.
- Load and unload trucks; inspect, mark, transport, and store raw materials according to type and grade.
- Complete all required transactions receiving, and inventory documentation accurately.
- Verify delivery paperwork and materials for accuracy and route documentation to appropriate personnel.
- Return unused, properly marked materials to designated storage areas.
- Communicate received, staged, and transported materials; assist with receiving reports.
- Coordinate with production, materials, and procurement teams to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
- Ensure shop floor personnel have required materials to maintain continuous production.
- Safely use basic hand and power tools and measurement equipment, including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and thread gauges.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to identify correct materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the material yard to support safe and efficient operations.
- Assist with periodic and annual physical inventories.
- Perform housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
- Provide hands‑on support to the shipping and receiving department, including loading, staging, and securing vessels and other large finished goods for shipment.
REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 18 and High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of metals and welding/fabrication processes preferred.
- Experience safely operating forklifts, overhead cranes, shears, and hand tools.
- Willingness and ability to complete required crane and forklift certification within the timeframe specified for the position.
- Strong math skills, including the ability to work with fractions and decimals.
- Ability to identify material types and heat codes and accurately read Material Test Reports (MTRs).
- Ability to read and accurately use measurement tools.
- Basic computer and calculator skills for data entry and documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Reading and writing literacy required, including legible handwriting.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
- Forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Shears and other hand tools required for completion of job tasks.
