Interpreter (English - Korean) - Construction Industry

Summary of Job

We are seeking a Korean-English Interpreter/Translator to facilitate seamless communication and provide essential document support for our construction projects in Texas. This role is crucial for bridging language barriers between our Korean expatriate managers, local American staff, subcontractors, and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess excellent fluency in both Korean and English, deep cultural understanding, and familiarity with technical construction terminology.

Responsibilities

• Act as interpreter between Samsung and clients such as vendors and contractors.
• Provide parties with translations of written materials, and meeting materials.
• Provide interpretations of questions, answers, statements, arguments, explanations and other forms of verbal communication.
• Render sight translations of documents and other written materials as needed.
• Complete daily activities and file documentation: Updating RFI/Shop/Submittal log, Holiday/Weekend work plan poll, DCS and etc.
• Complete of daily activity logs and other documentation.
• Provide accurate interpretation to a wide range of people with diverse voices, accents, speaking tempos and personalities.
• Support other duties as needed.
• Interpret on a construction site as needed.

Qualifications

• High school or higher.
• Proficient with use of office equipment and Microsoft Office.
• Outstanding listening, retention and note-taking skills.
• Proficient understanding of cultural sensitivity, and ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Well aware of the languages and the cultural differences between the countries.
• Excellent fluency in both Korean and English.
• Deep cultural understanding.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a construction environment.
• Familiarity with technical construction terminology.
• Experience or degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering field is a plus.
• Ability to interpret in high-pressure situations.
