What are the responsibilities and job description for the EC Behavior Intervention Specialist position at Sampson County Schools?
Reports To: Director of Exceptional Children
Purpose: Will serve students with disabilities defined under IDEA 2004 with behavioral challenges
identified as needing supports through the PRC-29 Grant
Overview of Job Responsibilities:
* Assist with planning and oversight in the development and implementation of programs and
best practices related to instruction using appropriate methodologies for students with
emotional/behavioral disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and/or other disabilities.
* Create and assist school staff with conducting functional behavioral analysis and assessments
for students served under PRC 29 with emotional/behavioral disabilities, autism spectrum
disorders, and/or other disabilities that present behavior/learning challenges.
* Assist in the development and implementation of behavior plans, services and other appropriate
programs for students served under PRC 29 with emotional/behavioral disabilities, autism
spectrum disorders, and/or other disabilities that present behavior/learning challenges.
* Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) teams providing support and management for
the implementation of behavior plans.
* Provide coaching and modeling to school staff on data collection, data analysis, and behavioral
interventions and supports.
* Manage student data and prepare pertinent reports.
* Develop materials, provide resources and deliver professional learning to relevant school-level
personnel in evidence-based methodologies for working effectively with students with
emotional/behavioral disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and/or other disabilities
* Travel to assigned schools as required and participate in on-going training as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
* Knowledge of federal, state, and local EC requirements
* Knowledge of behavior interventions and strategies
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Skills to manage work schedule and set priorities
* Ability to use data to determine instructional needs and evaluate student progress
* Interpersonal skills necessary to work cooperatively and effectively with individuals and groups
Education/Experience Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5 years of experience working with students with autism and/or other
significant developmental or behavioral disabilities
* Master’s Degree or higher in special education, psychology, applied behavior analysis or related
field is required
* Current BCBA or in process of obtaining that certification is preferred
Terms of Employment and Position Type:
* 10 months; full time; full benefits

* Performance of this employee will be evaluated by the Director of Exceptional Children
