What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Design Prepress Specialist position at Salt?
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for review and preparation of production files associated with, but not
necessarily limited to digital printing processes. Tasks include the generation of proofs for client
and payment scheme review, revisions based on feedback. Must be able to work with various
graphic design and layout software applications including but not limited to Adobe Illustrator and
Adobe Photoshop. The ability to work with different digital file formats is required. Advanced color
management skills a plus. Must have a strong understanding of digital and non-digital printing
processes as well as knowledge associated with standard print production functions and
capabilities with graphic software applications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Preflight incoming customer files
• Prepare files for specific production process including, but not limited to, color correction,
color separation, proof generation and application to pre-set templates
• Accept overall responsibility for the accuracy and quality of all files for production
• Adhere to current and future prepress procedures designed to optimize digital and nondigital printing, improve accuracy and quality, and workflow efficiency
Other Important Responsibilities:
• Timely corrective action response and resolution to relevant project situations
• Engage and support companywide Safety and Housekeeping Programs
• Will be required to perform other job functions, as assigned
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 3 years (or more) of prepress and/or graphic design experience
• High School Diploma/GED required. Associates Degree in Graphics a plus
• Work in a print production environment using digital printing, preferred
• Strong knowledge of digital prepress
• Process color experience is required. Color management, color correction and proofing
experience a plus
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized, can handle multiple projects at the same time, and has excellent followup skills
• Ability to work in a deadline-driven, team environment
• Ability to adapt to changing workload and schedules
Physical requirements and work environment:
• Must be able to lift 20 lbs
• Must be able to sustain office work for 8 hours per day including the following:
o Sitting in an office chair
o Typing
o Reaching for the telephone
o Standing at office equipment
o Hearing for phone use
o Sight for computer use
• Must be able to sustain factory work as needed including the following:
o Standing at machinery
o Reaching and pulling to operate machinery
o Sight for machinery operation
o Walking through shop
• Office environment is of moderate noise level.
• Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended.
