What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Manager position at SALSON LOGISTICS INC?
As the SalSon Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for promoting and selling our truckload transportation services to businesses throughout your assigned region. You must understand Logistics operations, container tracking, chassis, per-diem/demurrage, regional and appropriate over-the-road trucking operations to ensure the total satisfaction of customer requirements and the absolute assurance of stated levels of service to core customers. Youll be responsible for account development, visitation and problem solving as necessary to achieve and exceed the articulated expectations of customers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Prospect and identify potential clients through market research, networking, and cold calling.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
Conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients, highlighting the companys truckload transportation services and value proposition.
Understand clients specific logistics needs and develop customized solutions to meet their requirements.
Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with clients, ensuring profitability for the company.
Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, customer service, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of logistics services and timely resolution of any issues.
Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and stay ahead in the market.
Prepare and submit accurate sales reports, forecasts, and other relevant documentation to management.
As requested by the VP of Sales and Marketing, accomplish all special assignments and projects in an efficient and effective manner. Coordinate with appropriate direct reporting officials, as applicable, for the utilization of available physical and human resources to accomplish the project at hand.
Travels as required to fulfill the requirements of the responsibility such as Trade Shows, Industry Events, etc.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, Associates degree a plus
5 years of recent truckload, freight, or intermodal transportation sales experience
5 years of experience with Salesforce
Strong knowledge of transportation planning, freight, and supply chain processes
Familiarity with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems is a plus
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and meet sales targets
